Michelle applebaum's reflexions on her new piece

"We walk the earth struggling every moment. We try and communicate with others about our problems, it’s hard to be heard, sometimes we just speak and nobody really listens or doesn’t seem somewhat interested in our dramas.
It’s like talking to ourselves. It can be frustrating but it is also liberating, just getting it out from our system is comforting.
Then it’s freedom, complete freedom to be whatever you want to be. And you can go wherever you like, spring and jump out of your trapped mind.
WORK IN PROCESS SHOWING AT GIBNEY DANCE, SUNDAY APRIL 3, 2016. DETAILS HERE
We can find comfort again in human contact, in delicate touch, in the slight invasion of the other’s own personal sphere. We tumble once more on madness. Or is it the first time? Nothing makes sense, we are all disconnected and incapable of expressing anything. Incapable of communicating correctly and intentionally. It is the chaos within the mind. The chaos of the universe, the big question is what? There is no answer, there is no solution. Is it all random?

I see her running and stopping for a moment. A moment of understanding. And it is chaos once more, but conceived as a fun chaos, and oblivious of the questions. It’s just fun for fun, because it’s all struggling to get out there in the immediate future.

We are back in the womb. A comforting position, an easy way to shut out the rest of the world. To leave it all alone and never look back. Still unable to communicate with each other on different levels of consciousness. Crawling is necessary because nothing else seems possible or achievable at this point. We can’t get up until it pushes us up. We do it alone, the peace of mind in finding some sense. We are active observers looking at each other’s art, understanding and coming to a wider comprehension of the other’s movements. We come together to finish the unfinished, to see the future in waves and particles."
