Dance to the People is a female and immigrant led collective of dancers and other collaborators who work in non-hierarchical forms of art making to address social and environmental injustice.
With each project we discover innovative ways to develop content and structures of movement research, choreography, training, performance and sharing, fostering horizontality in the exchange of resources in our community.
We create together because we believe revolutionary art can only manifest itself through collective processes.
SUPPORT MOVIMIENTO BASURA // TRASH MOVEMENT
We need your help to support artists in the development of movement practices that change the way we relate to our environment.
We need to raise $3,000 to fund artistic practices around trash for the year 2020.

We don't own trash. But we propose a way to engage with it.
If you want to join this movement, read our Trash Manifesto, record yourself dancing with trash and send out the video at dancetothepeople@gmail.com, or, if posting on IG, tag dttp.nyc and use the hashtag #trashouting.
We ask that you consider these simple anti-capitalist, anti-waste, guidelines:
Do it in a PUBLIC space or make the performance space open and free
Make no waste with your performance
If there is residue from your performance that is “waste”, separate the objects and recycle them
If you transform your materials into an object, value this not as trash but as art
The Semillas Collective, Dance To The People and The KYR Mayday Space Children's Theater are producing a dance-film inspired by the migrant struggle, highlighting the resilience of migrant communities and displaced refugees while expressing solidarity to the families and children detained at the border.
