Dance To The People fortalece comunidades y brinda oportunidades para artistas experimentales. Su visión colaborativa es refrescante y necesaria en momentos de incertidumbre política, como los que vivimos hoy en día.

Dance to the People is an inspiring platform that creates opportunity to experiment, find & create community and do it in a way that has ease in its accessibility. Maira Duarte is an incredible 'yes...and' creature to behold as she continues to tirelessly find new avenues and opporunities to bring people together through dancing. Whenever I participate in or attend an event through DTTP, I find myself among a vibrant community of thinkers and movers. There is always someone new to meet and a connection to be made

DTTP creates a unique and inclusive forum for both students and teachers. In making classes economically accessible this creates a pragmatic bridge - to connect those interested in (contemporary) dance but without funds for training. This is not just a theory of inclusivity, rather it is an ACTUAL practice. As another means of inclusivity, the founders and frequent contributors of DTTP are POC. Contemporary dance remains a white dominated cultural sphere. In this dance world it remains a MUCH needed, strong and meaningful invitation that DTTP is - in practice - a space of ethnic and cultural inclusion. ----- DTTP also creates an opportunity for teachers to expand their student base. Because DTTP is able to offer studio space to teachers - teachers have more economic flexibility to offer their knowledge without worrying about overhead costs of rental and advertisement. Whether the teachers are new to facilitation or well-seasoned, the DTTP organizers are welcoming and supportive.

DTTP makes a lot happen with very little. Essentially it’s a teacher training /skill share. But there is so much that happens in this space. People take risks with their bodies, propose new ideas, and experiment with how to share something extremely personal in a public settling. DTTP creates a safe space where idea-exchange takes place. An embodied idea exchange? Community building and culture are an inevitable consequence of such an engagement.

Dance to the People fosters the growth of dance makers by offering opportunities for them to expand their practice through teaching, performance, and collaboration. It invests in artists practices through making space for them to experiment - I have personally witnessed the growth of many artists within the context of DTTP, having seen many artists blossom through the support of DTTP. There are simply not many other organizations around like DTTP - artist run platforms, creating equitable opportunities for professional development and growth in a public context. DTTP invests in people - early career artists need the support DTTP provides.
