Nikki Theroux
Improv and phrase work
12/18 2014 College of Staten Island
This class will focus on the individuality of each dancer's mind and body. It will begin with a guided improvisational exploration to reveal personal idiosyncrasies within movement early on, in order to apply these qualities to eventual phrase work. The phrase work will encourage an alertness to musicality and dynamics. The class will integrate invitations for open discussion in order to develop new perspectives.
Nikki Theroux received her BFA in Dance with a choreography concentration from Marymount Manhattan College. She has presented work at Steps Beyond/REVERBdance Performance Lab, Marymount Manhattan's Dancers at Work, Triskelion's Waxworks, and Peridance Capezio Center's Student Showcase. Nikki is committed to movement construction as manipulated through analytical means of connecting the intellectual thought process with the physical body.
