To dance we need to dance, it's that simple. Dance To The People wants to offer an opportunity to train, move and feel, to dance among others, to observe and to absorb. To try things out and to keep our bodies breathing and sweating.
Although there is an interest in modern/contemporary dance, any style of dance or study of movement is welcomed, as long as there is an intentional movement research involved in it.
While learning from others, we need to look and see what is it that our individual voice is about, what is it trying to say? Dance To The People is committed to the development of techniques to facilitate a path to self discovery in benefit to each person's artistic voice.
Composition and performance
For those committed to long term processes of discovery, there will be opportunities to develop dance projects using the (human) resources available to DTTP (training, space, expertise) and share this to the public.
Part of the why Dance To The People came to life was to get together and discuss about present issues in dance, like: audiences, presenters, dance education in schools, in higher ed, in studios, the fragmentation between the worlds of dance education and performance, dance as part of the contemporary art scene and as a commercial tool.
We expect our physical inquiry to be affected by an intellectual inquiry. Part of the session will always be devoted to the discussion of different themes proposed by the group.
When available and by request, special guests may be invited to share a piece of expertise in the subjects discussed.
We expect to submit evidence product of both the laboratory and forum into a serious inquiry and research that may benefit the dance field at large.
