Día de Muertos
(work in progress)
|
“Dia de Muertos” is a live performance featuring a large costume made of black plastic bags and mannequin parts. Inspired by Mojigangas—giant puppets used in Mexican celebrations—the costume embodies the dark figure of La Llorona, a wailing mother searching for her children. The work draws from the symbolism of the day of the dead to confront contemporary issues of mass displacement, cultural genocide, and environmental catastrophe
