Since 2015 Dance to the People has been conducting movement outings open to the public at beaches, parks, and other public spaces.
In 2019, we started to include trash in the movement practice, to experience it physically, as an undeniable object, product of a consumerist society.
We place trash at eye level, to open conversations and calls for change regarding the current changing social and environmental climate -- popular uprisings, indigenous resistance, and the destruction of the natural world, at the local and global levels.
We want to offer a practice that, through sensation and movement, can bring awareness of the equal value of all existing life forms, to de-center Western capitalistic human experience, and decolonize our bodies.
Embodied participation helps us share autonomous ways of living that empower us as consumers, and encourage waste reduction.

To continue, we need your help // This is a "COLECTA"
Dance to the People survives on donations of time, space, administrative support, and participant's donations.
We are doing a "colecta", that is, we are collecting from all, from the collectivity of supporters, participants, collaborators, friends, family, everyone who is an integral part of the work we do.
If the many support with something we can:
- Continue offering Trash Outings free and open to the public
- Compensate artists and collaborators for their time in guiding public practices
- Pay for internet, website, and other online fees and necessary membership.
- Pay for storage and transportation

Anything you give will fuel our efforts, no matter how small.
If you can give a lot, then do so. Artist's lives and economies are challenging.
If you are an artist, then you know how important it is that people show up with what they have to support your work. We are here to support each other, to join forces.
